I was not supposed to be born alive.
My mom was struggling days before my birth. She said that she was about to be on a Caesarian operation because there’s a possibility that the baby she was carrying for nine months, which was me, will just die because of the complications that my mom was experiencing before and during labor. But my mom made the strongest decision of fighting for me, of praying for us. My mother together with my father, who were really expectant to have a healthy first born child, stormed the heaven with prayers. And God did not fail them. After days of labor, of expectancy and of hope, my mom delivered a healthy baby girl.
I was born on the day of the solemnity of the Immaculate Concepcion, a feast honoring Mary, the mother of God. More than anything else, my family considers it not just as a coincidence but a real blessing. This and so many things have been a manifestation of God’s love in my family. But our family wouldn’t have started if not for our parents’ love story that happened years ago. Because of their “Yes”, my sister and I are here and our family is standing still despite of challenges through the love that binds us all together. The unity within our family has been an avenue where joy is shared and experienced, where blessings are transmitted.
The best definition of real love is the sacrifice that Christ made on the cross. As for me and my family, the best way that we could be instruments of this love is to also manifest it in our circle by loving, honoring and being with each other through the good and bad times.

How my mom chose to fight for the baby inside her womb was an example of it and how my father continues to stand for us is another one. We are a family and just as how God designed this wonderful gift, we continue to pray that the love started will continue to grow by generations.
To mama and papa, your “Yes” is a yes of obedience to God and we thank you for that. My lifelong question of how beautiful it is to live according to God’s plan has been answered by the sight of you being together each and every day. This is the love that really matters – the love that we feel from God and share with each other.
