What Old School Love Taught Me

Traditional, old-school, conventional — these are just some words that most people today don’t want to believe in. For some, going to where the wind blows is the new trend.

But, I have learned to appreciate the things that are old school in an amazing way. As I hear the stories of other couples that I have known, I am astonished of how some of them still fell the butterflies in their stomach from their first encounters with their beaus, of how they met, how they had their first date, how mawkishly sentimental were the things that they do for their beloved.

Take some advice from the elders. Listen to what they would say when it comes to love. If they tell you: “Don’t fall for someone’s hair, teeth, or money – because they can lose all of it. Their good heart will always remain,” keep it in your heart as someday you will find it helpful.

Never be afraid to go old school, because it is a proven fact that it can withstand the test of time. Love is something you wait for, work for, and above all, pray for.

This made me become a believer in the old school love — a love that is genuine, a love that you work hard for and a love that takes time to build and would last a long time. Today, we seem to have lost sight of the value of relationships. In the past generations, our parents and grandparents simply did things differently. For me, old school love wins and I believe that it sets the standard.
