Among the Flowers

Today, I walked among the flowers,
And picked up a Greystone from grass’ caress.
With a tight and firm grip, I pressed on it,
Feeding from its hard and rough state.

There! I threw it down the stream,
Of shattered hopes and unawaken dream.
Then, I saw ripples on the surface,
Reminiscent of memory towards my gaze.

How hard life can be?
I thought things were destined for me.
The freezing cold of yesterday’s winter,
Still lingers in the yonder.

I bent down on my knees and cried,
But a bush of blossoms looked up and smiled.
Hush. Hear the wind gush.
Then, calmness stills the water’s rush.

I was locked up in a winter’s dream,
When the world turned to a beautiful spring.
The season has changed. It’s a new beginning!
And so, I caressed the flowers as they were inviting.

The mild sunlight has dampened me,
A great reminder I forgot to keep.
Winter will pass and press me to bosom,
As spring will surface after I hit rock bottom.

There is beauty after pain,
Like a rainbow after the rain.
As someone says, man is perfected by hardships,
So as gem polished in friction.

And so, I continue to walk among the flowers,
And saw a Greystone on the grass.
But I hold on to a flower’s soft petal,
Not letting go of the beauty I have found.
