Stop, look and listen

We are called to love. At all times, we are challenged to love every person that we meet. When my God called me to be part of a Catholic lay community, He allowed me to be a channel of His love. But there’s always a dilemma upon giving and sharing love. What if you run out of love and feel that you can’t give anymore? What will you do in this situation? Will you still continue giving love even if you feel empty?

This year is a great challenge for everyone, especially for me. Those questions are my personal questions to my Lord and to myself. I’ve been engaged into a lot of things that involves giving. The flow of love was mostly giving until to the point that I’ve felt dryness from within. I tried to seek answers to those questions but it seems that it’s hard to find. I tried to find channels so that I can fill myself again. The struggle goes on and I tried to hide it from the people around me because I don’t want to bother them. I know that they have their personal struggles in their life. I tried to do it on my own.

The Lord simply reminded me, in different ways, of the things that I was failing to do and that is why I continuously experience this emptiness.

Focus on the true source of love – God.

God never failed to show His love for us. He is consistent in making us feel that we are loved. But most of the time, we try to seek things the way we want them to be, not knowing that God already provided us with what we really need. We are too focused on material things that we tend to forget about the simple sources of joy that God is continuously giving us. That’s why we start to feel empty and fail to appreciate the things that we truly need.

God has given us people to make us feel loved.

We are blessed with people who are ready to love and understand us. We are never deprived of love. We just need to recognize the presence of the people in our lives who have always been loving us. Let us not take them for granted. They are God’s priceless gift to us. They are God’s instruments of showing to us His boundless love and He will continually use them to reach out to you. Let us allow them to be accountable for us. Let us allow them to love us.

Seek silence.

We have our own responsibilities to fulfil. We never run out of things to do. This is the main reason why we tend to over think our way through accomplishing everything. We became too disturbed and focused on those things alone. We overly dwell in the noise of the world. Let us not forget to pause and seek silence, for it is in the silence of our hearts that God speaks the loudest.

Let us remember that we need to stop, look and listen. We just need to take a deep breath and create a space – a space between our worldly duties and our own selves. In that space, we allow God to dwell and speak to us. Let us not be tangled in the speed of time. Because if we forget to stop and rest, we are slowly drowning and gagging our thoughts in constant chaos.

We need to embrace the importance of hushing our thoughts, remain in silence for a while and just listen. It is one of the greatest moments a person can ever have. Listening to the Creator is a way of directing ourselves towards His plans. His words are the greatest affirmations. We need to listen by heart.

Stop.

Look.

Listen.

By following these, we allow ourselves to be filled again. By considering these, we allow God to love us. By allowing people to journey with us, we are allowing God to journey with us even more. By seeking in silence, we are allowing God to speak loudly in our lives.
