You are my first wisdom guru and forever my favorite. Nothing can outgrow the harvest of the lessons you planted in me. Conversations with you may be seldom and short but the learning from it stay for the longest time. When the demands of the world get the best of me, you never fail to bring me back to my senses and etch in my heart that I am the best you ever had. You set aside your wants and go beyond your limits to fill up the needs of everyone you love the most.
I am very sorry for the times I feel that you are less of the man you should be. It reminded me of how narrow-minded I am; for the times I don’t acknowledge your efforts, never even tried to act like I care; for the times I don’t even bother to help you carry your cross which is made heavier because of my selfishness and cruelty; and for the times when my words and actions are not precious in your ears and eyes. I apologize for I sometimes forget my role and responsibilities to be one of the sources of unity and love in order to help you build a better home.
I lift to the Lord your health for you are one of those in whom I draw my strength; your safety, so that you’ll continuously assist the Lord in guiding and making straight my paths; your service, that it may ignite other’s passion, too; and your love, that it may spread all over the world because I know how great it feels to have it.
I know I am not a perfect to be worthy of you, but it should not hinder me in aspiring to be one because you deserve to have one. You are not perfect as well, but I believe you are because you have shown and proven it in countless ways. This blog is not enough to repay all the goodness and love you’ve given us but it is sufficient to let the whole world know that you love us unconditionally despite and in spite of. Papa, you may not be nailed on the cross but the pain you endured for us, the distance you traveled alone carrying the cross of our future, and the passion you kept to serve the Lord, for me, you are definitely the man next to Jesus.
Happy Father’s Day!
